Anyone looking to purchase an apartment on the Mediterranean coast, particularly in Alanya, is likely to run into issues with their floor plan and other aspects of their unit. Apartment rooms are often split into living areas and bedrooms. The number of bedrooms is always indicated by the layout before the number of living rooms. For instance: 4 + 2 - implies the apartment has 4 bedrooms and 2 living rooms (yes, it does happen, and it's frequently a two-story flat). 1+1 means the apartment has 1 bedroom and a living room. 2+1 means the apartment has 2 bedrooms and 1 living room.

Turkish law has made it illegal to build studio flats (0+1) as of 2017. 1+1 flats must have a minimum of 28.5 square meters of space. As a result, people who are considering purchasing a studio apartment should be aware that doing so may be basically useless.
