What are the Required Documents for Turkish Citizenship by Investment in 2023?

The Turkish Citizenship by Investment Law, which was first enacted in 2017, has undergone many changes in the following years and has increased the diversity of options offered to foreign investors by granting Turkish citizenship through various investment methods.

Ways to Obtain Turkish Citizenship through Investment 2023:

• Turkish citizenship through real estate ownership: Purchase of a property worth not less than 400,000 US dollars, provided that it is not sold for 3 years
• Turkish citizenship via bank deposit: Deposit 500,000 USD to any Turkish bank, provided that it is not withdrawn for 3 years.
• Turkish citizenship through public investment: Investment of not less than 500,000 USD in Turkey for at least 3 years.
• Turkish citizenship by depositing in the Private Retirement Fund: 500,000 USD can be deposited into the said fund and kept for 3 years.
• Turkish citizenship through bonds: Purchase government bonds worth at least $500,000 and keep them for 3 years.
• Turkish citizenship by employing Turks: Provided that the number of Turkish workers is not less than 50 and none of them is dismissed for 3 years.

Conditions for Acquiring Turkish Citizenship:

Article 11 of the Law on Granting Turkish Citizenship to Foreigners includes some conditions that must be met in order to acquire Turkish citizenship:

• The applicant must be of legal age and have sound mental faculties
• It provides the desire to live and reside in Turkey for investment, work, education or marriage purposes.
• Good conduct and a CV that does not include crimes and criminal prosecution in Turkey
• Knowing a minimum level of Turkish allows the applicant to live in Turkey, meet his daily needs and establish good relations with Turks.
• The applicant's ability to support himself and his family on a stable monthly income that provides a decent living.
• To submit a certified health report stating that there is no contagious or contagious disease that can affect those around them or cause an epidemic.
• The file also includes a criminal record (no criminal record), which means that there is no security threat to Turkey and the Turkish people for the applicant.

Documents Required to Acquire Turkish Citizenship through Property:

• A contract to purchase a property in Turkey worth at least $400,000.
• Any title deed proving real estate title (easement or full) proves that the property belongs to the applicant and that its value is equivalent to the requirements for Turkish citizenship.
• Real estate appraisal report showing the real value of the property.

• A letter certified and stamped by the bank stating that the Turkish Lira value of the real estate equivalent to the financial value of Turkish citizenship has been transferred to the seller's account through the same intermediary bank.
• Marriage certificate duly translated and certified
• Birth certificates for children duly translated and certified
• Copies of the applicant's and his/her family's passports translated into Turkish and certified by a Turkish notary.
• 4 personal photographs of the applicant and his family.
• The spouse's consent or refusal to grant Turkish citizenship to himself and his children.

Documents Required to Acquire Turkish Citizenship Through Bank Deposit:

• Open a bank account at any licensed Turkish bank
• Deposit $500k
• Document showing that the amount in question has been seized by the bank for 3 years
• Report of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency for the purpose of matching the deposited amount with the conditions of Turkish citizenship.
• A document complying with the requirements for Turkish citizenship is obtained from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
• Marriage certificate duly translated and certified
• Birth certificates for children duly translated and certified
• Copies of the applicant's and his/her family's passports translated into Turkish and certified by a Turkish notary.

• For an investment of $500,000, a certificate of conformity must be obtained from the Land Registry Directorate.
