8 Things to Do in Kaş

Have you ever heard of Kas? This is a small fishing village in Antalya Province in southwestern Türkiye. It's a spectacular area filled with heavenly beaches and crystal clear waters. In recent years, it has become one of the country's major tourist attractions, especially in summer. This is no surprise, as Kas is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy the great weather and rejuvenate with loved ones.

Apart from gaining much attention in the tourism industry, Kas is also very popular with those looking to invest and buy property in Turkey, as it is clear that this small town has great potential. Buying an apartment in Kas is a safe bet as its popularity continues to increase.

If you are considering buying a property in Kas or planning to move there for the holidays, then you will be interested in this article. Here, we tell you eight things you must do while visiting this paradise overlooking the Mediterranean. We hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

8 Things to Do in Kaş1

1. Explore the city center

The first thing to do upon arriving in Kas is to explore the beautiful streets of the city centre. It's a small city and generally more relaxing to visit than other coastal cities like Antalya. The city center is filled with colorful little houses, boutiques, cozy cafés and streets lined with flowers. It is an idyllic and very charming place that can enchant everyone.

2. Swim at a beautiful beach

If you visit Kas, there is no doubt that you should swim at one of its paradise beaches. This is primarily a summer tourist destination, so sun, sand and sea are a must. We recommend you to visit Hidayet Koyu, Kaputaş, and Akçagerme.

3. Dare to dive with sea turtles

Another popular activity that Kas tourists often do is scuba diving to watch fish and turtles. Kas is considered one of the best diving spots in Turkey due to its crystal clear waters, the color of the sea bottom and generally quite warm water temperature. Due to these conditions, even some subtropical fish can be found.

4. Visit Meis Island

Metz is a small Greek island near Kas. It is small, with only about 400 residents. However, its size has nothing to do with its tourist and cultural interests, as it is a very special place. There are several churches, museums and the Blue Hole, known as the second largest cave in Europe. Visiting the island is much easier during the high summer season as ferries depart daily from Kas. However, in winter this traffic only runs once a week.

5. Walk around the Uzun Bazaar

If you want to buy gifts or souvenirs, we recommend you to go to Uzun Bazaar. Unlike other grand bazaars like Istanbul, Kas vendors have a much more relaxed attitude. It's the perfect place to shop for rugs, handmade jewellery, clothing by local designers and art.

6. Cross the Saklikent Canyon

If you're feeling adventurous, you must visit Saklikent Canyon, which is 18 kilometers long and 200 meters high. Several companies offer tours of the canyon, and waiting is the first of its kind. If you choose to do this activity, please remember to wear proper footwear as this activity is not easy to do in flip flops.

7. Visit to Kaleköy village

On the other hand, we also recommend a trip to Kaleköy, a small town near Kas that can only be reached by boat. The city has a very important history as it was built on Lycian and Byzantine ruins. There are currently a few restaurants and hotels there, but otherwise not much to see. Still, it's a must if you're staying in Kas for a few days.

8. Explore Simena by canoe

Last but not least, you have to cross the ancient city of Simena by canoe. Decades ago, Simena was hit by a major earthquake that flooded the city, with tombs, churches and houses submerged in the sea. It is currently possible to visit the ruins of the city completely under the sea. Note that swimming among the ruins is prohibited, as people sometimes tamper with or even steal ancient artifacts that are submerged in their homes. However, it's easy to navigate between them as long as the boat doesn't stop.
