Real Estate Sales to Foreigners in Turkey Increased by 235.7 Percent

According to Turkish statistics, Turkey has recently seen a great demand from foreign investors to buy real estate throughout Turkey and Istanbul, especially for various reasons, including real estate investment, including housing and stability. In Turkey, sales of real estate to foreigners increased by 235.7 percent in May compared to the same month in 2021.

According to data released on Wednesday by the Turkish Statistics Authority, 5,962 houses in Turkey were sold to foreigners in the previous month.
With 2451 properties, Istanbul led the list of Turkish provinces that sold real estate to foreigners, followed by Antalya (1885) and Mersin (264).

In terms of the growth in the value of its index during May of this year, the new apartments of the 4 + 1 type were placed first among other types of flats, with an increase in the value of its index reaching 18.38%.

New apartments of the 3 + 1 type came next, with a rise in the value of their index of 13.59%, while apartments of the 2 + 1 type came in third, with an increase in the index value of 11.41%.

In the fifth month of current year 2022, 1 + 1 flats occupied the fourth position, a gain of 5.43%.

Regarding the methods of payment used to purchase new residential apartments, the purchase by advance payment ranked first with a rate of 57.11% in the registered projects during the month of May 2022, followed by the purchase by financial bonds with a rate of 35.21%, and the purchase using a bank loan with a rate of 7.68% in third place.

The percentage of sales of branded projects from ready-to-deliver apartments was 62.27% in May 2022, while the percentage of sales of unfinished apartments in registered projects during May of this year reached 37.73%, achieving an increase of 13.69%, over the real estate stock consumption rate for new apartments in projects with a registered mark during the month of May 2022.
